Prunus domestica
Variety description: Small, sour plum, widely grown and recognized among serval Middle Eastern cultures. Known as Goje Sabz in Farsi, this plum eaten while sour and crunchy, often seasoned with salt. The fruit can also be left on the tree to ripen as small, soft, sweet and juicy plums. Early ripening.
Site requirements: Full sun location. Plums will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Soil pH of 6.0-7.0 is required.
Size at maturity: 12-15′.
Pests and diseases: Susceptible to Cytospora canker. Beware plum curculio.
Hardiness: USDA zones 5-9.
Plant size: Grafted tree, 2′ with strong central leader. Grown in a 4″ x 9″ tree pot.
