Notable characteristics: Huge single flowers of a dark raspberry-pink color hold straight by rigid stems above foliage. The base of each petal is of a dark red wine color. Extremely reliable plant with long blooming period. Lightly fragrant.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Intersectional peony, Roger Anderson, 1999.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Tall, upright grower, grows to 3.5′ tall and 4′ wide.
Flower form and size: Single, rose form blossoms, 7-8″ and upward facing. Flowers held well above and around the dark green foliage.
Flower fragrance: Light, sweet.
Bloom time: Early season ‘Itoh’ intersectional hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first through third week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 4-5 ‘eye’ with a well developed root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.
