Ficus carica
This French fig produces luscious black fruit with rich strawberry red flesh. A natural dwarf, this tree is very well suited for growing in containers. It also has longer and finer leaves than most fig trees, making it a beautiful ornamental. It ripens late (early to mid-October in CT depending on the season), but reliably. Figs are elongated and small to medium in size. Produces a good early crop, called the “breba crop”.
Size at maturity: Varies according to training technique, pruning and winter die-back.
