Notable characteristics: Perfectly formed light pink double form flowers are excellent for cutting with a strong, spicy sweet fragrance. Xi Shi, a women who lived during the Spring and Autumn period, is remembered to this day as one of the Four Beauties of ancient China.
Species, place of origin: Paeonia lactiflora, traditional cultivar from China.
Growth habit and size at maturity : Grows to 3.5′ tall and wide. Strong stems.
Flower form and size: Well formed double, 5″, upright blossoms. Requires staking in the landscape.
Flower fragrance: Dense, spicy sweet scent.
Bloom time: Mid-season herbaceous peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first or second week of June.
