Variety description: A smaller version of the its giant cousin M. macrophylla, this exquisite small tree sports the same large foliage and fragrant blossoms of its gargantuan relative. Dark green leaves reach 12-24” long and have charming silver undersides.
Site requirements: Full sun to part shade location. Prefers rich moist, well-drained soil. Acidic soils full of composted organic matter are ideal.
Size at maturity: 10-15′ tall and 8-10′ spread.
Pests and diseases: None.
Hardiness: USDA zones 6-9. Winter protection is necessary in USDA zone 6 for the first few years.
Plant size: 2 year old seedling, 8-10” tall with a well developed root system. Grown in a 4″ x 9 ” tree pot.
