Wisteria floribunda, ‘Honbeni’ aka ‘Pink Ice’ Japanese wisteria
Variety description: Palest pink, almost translucent flowers have a golden heart and are borne on very long racemes.
Size at Maturity: Depends on desired form. If left to its own devices, wisteria will grow into a 20-30′ vine. Can be grown along fences, up pergolas and trellises. Structures must be strong to support weight of mature plants. Size can be greatly restrained and flowering increased by summer pruning. Can be grown as a ‘tree’ form standard.
Site Requirements: Full sun to part shade with fertile well drained soil with moderate moisture. Best flowers in the full sun.
Hardiness: USDA zones 6-9. The cultivar has grown well for us at our nursery in Thomaston, CT.
Plant size: Grafted vine, 18-24″ tall. Grown in a 4″ x 9″ tree pot tube.
One larger specimen available in a 2 gallon container.
