Notable characteristics: Pure dark red single blossoms, 3” on a petite plant which grows to 2′ tall. Very early blooming, one of our first peonies to open in May. Delicate, lacy fern leaf foliage. We came across this variety years ago and have been unable to make a positive ID. Despite it’s lack of proper name it will make an interesting addition to any landscape.

Growth habit and size at maturity: Upright, grows to 2′ tall and 3.5′ wide. Very good stem strength.
Flower form and size: Single, 4-5″ and upward facing. Excellent variety for landscape planting or cut flowers.
Flower fragrance: Very light.
Bloom time: Early season hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first and second week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 3-9.
Plant size: 4-5 ‘eye’ plants with a well developed root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.
