Notable characteristics: Pure golden yellow blooms with dark red flares at the bases of crinkled petals. Vigorous grower with an upright habit. Blossoms have a pleasant, lemon scent.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: P. lutea hybrid, Saunders, 1948.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): To 4′ tall and 3′ wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double to full double blossoms, 5-6″. Flowers held above the foliage.
Flower fragrance: Strong, sweet, lemon scent.
Bloom time: Late Mid-season hybrid tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May and first week of June. Like ‘High Noon’, this tree peony will re-bloom in the late summer and early fall when conditions are right.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
